One of the BEST presents I ever received was an adorable little book of letters from my daughter. The book is actually 10 bound envelopes that unfold into letter. Each letter is sealed with cute stickers that say when the letter was sealed/written, and on what date to open it.

In addition to the cool stickers, the envelope also gives the premise of the contents of each letter. Like, “A special memory I have of you is…” and “I always think of you when….” And, making it ideal as a tool for talking about “life,” one letter sets the stage with, “I’ve always wanted to tell you….” And, of course, what my daughter wrote in each letter was truly beautiful and heartfelt. This is an idea worth stealing, so I will definitely pick a couple up. There’s even “Letters to my Grandchild” (and a couple of dozen other varations).
Letters To My are the brainchild of Lea Redmond and produced by Chronicle Books (they always have the cool stuff). They’re also available on Amazon. Have you received a similar gift that actually transcended whatever occasion the gift was for, and became more of a “life moment” connection? If so, please share in the comments section.
